Happy New Year. I hope you’ve had an amazing and memorable one, no matter what you got up to. Let’s make 2019 an even bigger one than 2018. Because it’s a new year, it’s a time for new beginnings, fresh perspective. It’s also summer so perfect weather if you’re living in the Southern Hemisphere. Let’s do it.

That said, I had a lot of comments on my stories last night so I thought I’d share what I got up to. I decided to check out Sandy Rivera at Cafe del Mar Sydney for New Years Eve and also try their three course Dinner Package and buy some champagne. It is New Years Eve after all so what is New Years Eve without Champagne.

The Menu was New Years Eve consisted of an array of foods such as Tar Tar, Trout, a selection of Salads and Cheese as well as Scallops for the Entree, while the main consisted of Tenderloin, Lamb Rack, Duck Breast and Cod as a selection with Dessert choices being Tiramisu, Mousse, Fondant or a cheese platter.

I’m going to take you through my selections as I think it suited the evening well. Kicking things off was the seared scallops with spring pea puree, maple bacon and burned butter. Large scallops and the flavour combination was definitely a winner.

For the main course, I selected the king prawn with beef tenderloin, potato dauphinoise and asparagus. Just needed something solid for the night ahead and this really did the trick and the beef was really tender and went down well with the creamy potato.

And of course if you know me, you know my love for chocolate, so I had to go for the chocolate fondant which was smooth and moist inside. That with the vanilla ice cream, raspberry jelly and lime ganache. So good. A winner.

I opted for the early dinner so if you’re ever taking a dinner package, do the early one if possible which will leave loads of time for good cocktails, music and dancing. Of course that was exactly my plan and what a night it was. A great location looking over Darling Harbour for the fireworks and dancing the night away to Sandy Rivera who played a selection of tracks that kept me on the floor.

Hoping you had a great night too whatever you did and I’m definitely looking forward to more summer parties at Cafe del Mar Sydney.
